Oliver is a corporate and commercial lawyer, who trained and worked as a qualified lawyer for two years at Slaughter and May before joining Asserson Law Offices in September 2011.

Oliver graduated from Oxford University with first class honours in modern history in 2003. He worked in a range of legal departments at Slaughter and May, including corporate, financing, employment and tax.

Oliver has particular experience in corporate and commercial matters, including mergers and acquisitions and equity capital markets. He has worked on a number of private acquisitions and complex corporate reorganisations. Oliver also advises on general company law and corporate governance. His recent work includes:

• advising on a proposed initial public offering on the main market of the London Stock Exchange of a major European energy company;
• advising on the sale of an international fitness business with an enterprise value of c.£900 million to a private equity buyer;
• advising on a complex reorganization of a major insurance group;
• advising a UK public listed company on the sale of an internet business to a US buyer, for consideration of c.£30 million (including earn out provisions);
• advising an international group on a tax-driven corporate reorganisation;
• advising an engineering company on a management buyout of a manufacturing company at a value of c. £2 million;
• advising a public listed company on a £250 million share buyback programme; and
• advising a private equity seller on disclosure aspects of the sale of a portfolio business.
